Bilateral Ureteral Reimplant

This is Sis getting all geared up for surgery. She is a little doped-up on an anti-anxiety medicine in this picture.

Even though they gave her a sedative she still went ballistic when they took her back, but thank heavens she doesn't remember it.

She was in surgery for 2 hours and she did great. Everything went better than expected. The doctor told us that patients that have this surgery are usually super nauseous and can't keep anything down. So they have to stay in the hospital until they can keep pain meds down. But Sadie was a trooper and never once threw up while in the hospital. She did come out with a small tube coming out of her incision that they took out on day 2.

Her heart was really irregular and being funny all night the first night, so she had to be hooked up to monitors and they went off all night because her heart kept on skipping beats and getting too low than too high, so we got NO sleep the first night. But luckily after having the heart work-up on Thursday, the Cardiology department said that it wasn't anything too serious. She just has a slight murmur and irregular heart rhythm, but the anesthesia and the morphine were making it worse.

Maretta and Woody brought Tuck to see his sister. Sadie was so happy to see him and they brought presents!!
On Thursday, they tried getting Sis off the morphine and onto meds by mouth, she did pretty good for most of the day. She went to the play room to play and she tried having fun with Junior, Kallie, and Tuck. But then they couldn't get her pain under control and her bladder kept on having spasms, they gave her everything that they could by mouth and she was still miserable. I was holding her in my arms as tight as a I could trying to get her to calm down and she just couldn't. Then she yelled out, "PRAY DADDY, PRAY...PRAY DADDY, PRAY". So of course Tanner started praying and then she talked herself into calming down a bit, but then they decided to put her back on the morphine for a few hours.
This may sound so bad but I loved my morphine baby!! She was sooo sweet and loving. She was absolutely hilarious as well. She would say stuff like, "mom, we're swimmin with the fishes. Weeee, this is fun swimmin with the fishes." To this day she thinks that she and I went swimming with the fishes. Its so funny. But since she's been off the morphine she has been really ornery and kinda mean.
All she has wanted since her surgery is for me to hold her and to be with her 24/7. So that's what I do.....in fact it's disgusting but I didn't shower for 4 days!! Oh what we sacrifice for our little love bugs!
On Thursday we had all kinds of visitors...besides Merts family and Tuck we had; Camille, Emma, Jenette, Angi, Linsey, Bishop, and Sister Allred. Thank you everyone for coming and visiting and for spoiling Sis completely rotten!!

Since Sadie's heart checked out to be fine and she was keeping the meds down, on Friday afternoon we got to come home!!

THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR YOUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS!!

  1. We do sacrifice for our little love bugs, don't we? I think you are such a good mom and you have such a sweet family. I am glad all went well, and hope she continues to improve. I have thought about you a lot ever since you left for the hospital.
